This Tiny Treehouse in Oregon is the Perfect Fall Escape

As travelers who love to stay in unique accommodations from overwater villas in the Maldives to glass pods in Peru, we’re always on the hunt for our next unforgettable experience. With fall being one of our favorite seasons, we were excited to find the perfect autumn escape that combines all the things we love: the vibrant colors of changing leaves, crisp air, pumpkin spice everything, and a stay with unique features and amenities.

When we discovered the Airbnb listing for this tiny home treehouse in Sandy, Oregon, we knew it was the perfect place for the ultimate fall getaway. Our stay in the treehouse was all about relaxing and recharging. It offered everything we needed to unwind and enjoy the beauty of fall in the Pacific Northwest, and we can’t wait to share our experience with you.

Treehouse Tour

Outside a tiny treehouse in Oregon

As soon as we saw this tiny tree house nestled in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, we decided it was one of the coziest places we’d ever seen. A spiral staircase wrapped around a tree leading directly up to the fairy-light-covered treehouse and a covered patio beneath the treehouse was the perfect place for snuggling up next to a fire and enjoying the crisp fall air.

Inside, the living area was warm and welcoming. It featured a small table and a shelf full of board games. The large windows overlooked the forest, allowing you to take in the stunning views of the moss-covered trees.

The treehouse was the perfect size for a family or small group of friends, with a master bedroom and a loft with two twin beds. Maybe it’s because we spend a lot of time sleeping inside our converted Sprinter van, but these beds felt extra warm and comfy. Inside the treehouse, you’ll also find a small bathroom and a tiny kitchen, including a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee machine.

Our favorite part was that this treehouse was completely unplugged from everything—there was no cell service and no Wi-Fi. If you’re anything like us, it’s not often that we get to completely disconnect from our busy lives and just enjoy each other’s company. It might sound scary at first, but we highly recommend it!

Property Tour

There is a lot more to this Airbnb than just the treehouse itself. The treehouse is set on 20 acres of property, chock full of other amenities, hiking trails, and outdoor activities.

In addition to the bathroom inside, there is another bathroom and a shower set outside the treehouse. The outdoor shower has unlimited hot water and a little fireplace in it, so you’re guaranteed a hot shower even when it’s cold outside. The covered patio under the house features a grill and propane fireplace where you can do most of your cooking.

The hosts built this property with their grandkids in mind, so it has so many activities that anyone can enjoy. There are tree swings, playgrounds, basketball courts, carpet ball (think a mix between pool and shuffleboard), frisbee golf, slacklines, and a zipline.

There’s a little pond by the treehouse, where you can walk onto the dock and feed the fish with food that the hosts provide. And just a heads up, there are two very friendly dogs wandering around the property who love to join you on all of your adventures!

How to Create the Perfect Fall Weekend

This Airbnb is the perfect place to have an “all things autumn” weekend, so we planned to enjoy as many fall activities as possible. Although relaxing and recharging in the treehouse on or the patio would be enough, here are some ways that we think you could enjoy a fall weekend at the tiny treehouse:

  • Carve Pumpkins: no activity screams “fall” more than carving pumpkins, right?

  • Go on a Nature Walk: The property’s 20 acres have a ton of walking trails, perfect for getting some fresh air and enjoying the scenery

  • Roast Smores: The treehouse’s propane fireplace is the perfect place to roast marshmallows

  • Play Board Games: Without access to a TV or Netflix, it’s the perfect time to play some of your favorite games while escaping from the rain outside. It is the Pacific Northwest, after all.

  • Sip Hot Drinks: Whether it’s hot chocolate or mulled wine, get a hot drink for yourself to enjoy in the cold weather!

  • Cook up a Cozy Meal: Stop by a farmer’s market on your way into town and pick up some local produce to cook up together.

  • Enjoy Slow Mornings: cold, gloomy weather is not always a bad thing when you have unlimited time to cuddle up in a warm bed with a cup of coffee
